Bunny Mini – Free Crochet Pattern

In a Facebook live I had a few nights ago, I shared all the details of a craft sale I participated in this past weekend. You can watch the replay here. One of my most successful items were these tiny bunny minis. I was able to have a basket full of them on my table, and they were a great, low priced item for parents to grab for their kids as they browsed the sale. They are super quick to make and were really popular.

I used various super bulky yarns from my stash to make these. They also worked up really well with blanket yarn. I then attached felt eyes with my hot glue gun, to avoid the extra time of embroidering eyes, and avoiding the extra cost of safety eyes.

I made the eyes that I used with my Cricut maker. You can purchase the same eyes in my Etsy shop here.

NOTES

  • Checking your gauge is not required for this pattern. Use a hook that is smaller than the size recommended for your yarn weight. This will ensure that your stuffing will not show through the stitches.

  • Head requires full stuffing.

PATTERN

Head

R1: Begin with 6 SC in a magic ring. (6 sts)

R2: 2 SC in each st around. (12 sts)

R3: *2 SC in next st, 1 SC in next st. Repeat from * around. (18 sts)

R4-5: 1 SC in each st around. (18 sts)

R6: *SC2tog, 1 SC in next st. Repeat from * around. (12 sts)

R7: *SC2tog. Repeat from * around. (6 sts)

Fill with stuffing.

Weave in and out of remaining sts and pull tight to close. Fasten off.

R2: Ch 2, *DC2tog. Repeat from * once more, turn. (2 sts)

R3: Ch 2, DC to end. (2 sts)

Fasten off. Weave in ends.

ASSEMBLY & FINISHING

Ears will natural curve and have a point where you fastened off your last row. Push second ear out so that the curve is facing the opposite side and the the point of each ear is facing outward in opposite directions.

Attach ears to head between R1 and R2, directly next to each other. Be sure that points on ears are facing outward.

Attach felt eyes at approximately R3-4.

*Note: Safety eyes and noses pose a choking risk for babies; therefore, if making this toy for a baby, I recommend using yarn, felt, or embroidered details.
